About Us
SMCN funded by NHS Scotland and the Chief Scientist Office, is a virtual Scottish Centre for mounting clinical trials and addressing the knowledge gaps in support of the effective and safe use of medicines in children.
SMCN currently has core infrastructure support in the 4 main population centres and roll out across Scotland as the portfolio of clinical trials and medicines development gathers momentum.
SMCN forms part of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) and works closely with the Department of Health (England) Medicines for Children Research network (MCRN) and with the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network (Children) and equivalent in Wales.
