Operational management of the Network’s activities is directed from the national co-ordinating centre which is hosted by the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian and led by the Network Director, Professor Peter Helms. The strategy and work programmes of the Network are overseen and undertaken by a Management Board, comprising senior clinicians from the co-ordinating Centre and from Tayside, Lothian and Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Regional network nodes have been established in each of the children’s hospitals in the 4 main population centres of Aberdeen (covering North of Scotland), Dundee (covering East of Scotland), Edinburgh (covering South and South East of Scotland) and Glasgow (covering West of Scotland).
An adoption committee comprising the network director, manager, pharmacist and lead paediatric research nurse meets on demand to review clinical trial protocols of studies applying for network adoption and to review recruitment progress on existing trials.
