Our Role

ScotMCN supports and encourages research and clinical trials relevant to the better use of medicines and health care in children. This is achieved by working with children and parents, with healthcare professionals, with researchers in Universities and Colleges, and with the pharmaceutical industry in the context of the Scottish National Health Service (NHS) and the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network.

Areas of activity extend across the whole range of medicines development including the establishment of safe and effective doses (pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics), therapeutic clinical trials and the monitoring of medicines in established use (pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance).
